Hi all...as you are aware we have been going through a few changes around the gym. The men's changing rooms and showers are now complete and we have had some awesome feedback...Thanks guys. We will be starting on the ladies ones on the 16th of August so please bear in mind they will be out of use for 2 weeks. We have converted the Spin Studio into a temporary changing room (with toilet) for use over this time. Unfortunately we don't have a shower available for use so please remember to make alternative arrangements. We are sorry for the inconvenience this may cause but we promise it will be worth it once they are complete.
 
The other big change you will notice over the next couple of weeks is the abscence of Sarah our Membership Consultant and the arrival of some of the new PT faces on a more regular basis. Sarah and her partner have decided to head over the ditch to Melbourne to try their luck there. Her last day will be on Thursday 12th August so if you see her before then give her a HUG!!!!
 
Due to Sarah leaving us I (thats me Mei-Lan) will be taking over her role of inhouse meberships so if you have any questions or inquiries please feel free to come and chat.
 
You will also notice the absence of Jess our Fitness Instructor/PT who has just had knee surgery. Jess will be away for the next 3 weeks so if you have any questions regarding your programs that she has written please feel free to come see myself or one of the other trainers.

 Physiotherapist Rachel Roberts BSc(Hons)Physiotherapy and associate physiotherapist Jessica Fourie BSc Physiotherapy, along with Stephanie Firth Massage Therapist CMT, are now practicing within First Place Fitness. We offer a highly professional and friendly service to enable our clients to regain their quality of life following an injury or a chronic condition.
Following a thorough Mechanical Assessment, realistic goals will be negotiated and using a combination of Hands on Treatment and Prescribed Exercise Based Rehabilitation we believe you will achive an excellent outcome. We specialise in the management of acute back and neck pain, sports injuries and post operative orthopaedic care alongside our general practice, including care of the elderly, paediatrics and pre/post natal care.
Our Massage Therapist Stephanie can help with your event preparation and recovery to allow you to maximise your physical potential. She is also proficient at Relaxation Massage.
We are open Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.
Weekend appointments by special request.
Please discuss you rehabilitation needs with one of our staff.
ACC Applications can be done here by us-no need for doctor's referral.

MONTHLY RECIPE
 
LAMB KEBAB
 
 Ingredients:
  • 500g lamb, cut into 2cm cubes

    Marinade:

  • 1 large onion, grated
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons plain yoghurt
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 teaspoon dried tarragon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • wooden skewers, soaked in cold water for 10 minutes
 Instructions:
 
Mix the marinade ingredients well until you get a smooth mixture. Add the lamb pieces to the marinade mixture and leave it covered in the fridge for at least 3 hours, or better still, overnight.

Arrange a few pieces of meat on each skewer. Barbecue or grill for 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the meat is browned. Turn the skewers over at least once during cooking.

Serve with
Broad bean and herb salad.
